Looking to buy an ant farm with live ants and queen included?
If you’re wondering why it’s been difficult to find an ant farm with queen included, it’s for a good reason. The USDA made rules that prohibit shipping queen ants because they don’t want them to establish colonies where they don’t belong if they are accidentally released. Also, ant farms like the Uncle Milton Ant Farm are not designed to contain a large queen and the thousands of young she produces. The live ants included with your ant farm order only consists of worker ants which do remain active in your ant farm without the need for a queen. They will work together to maintain their habitat, gather food, and construct tunnels.
Ages 8+ with adult supervision required.
CREEPYBACHY –
can they still reproduce?
Nature Gift Store –
Sorry, no queen is included. The USDA rules prohibit us from shipping queen ants because they don’t want them to establish colonies where they don’t belong. Also, ant farms are not designed to contain a large queen and the thousands of young she produces. Your ants will work without the queen.

Nature GiftStore is amazing!!!! First, the respond promptly, very promptly, to an email. Second, we needed ants fast (science project) and they processed and shipped quickly, very quickly :-). Third, all the ants were alive and vigorous, very vigorous. Fourth and finally, I had ordered ant gel refill from them via Amazon. I didn’t know it was the same seller and that came very fast too. Thank you for helping me save my son’s science fair project.
Yahir Martinez –
Do they have a queen
Ateendra Sharma –
Hello, Yahir. Unfortunately, we don’t provide queen ants. The USDA rules prohibit us from shipping queen ants because they don’t want them to establish colonies where they don’t belong. You’ll receive healthy worker ants.
Scott Stewart –
Came in live and sooner than expected. We had to leave them in the tube for more than 10 days and surprisingly they lived. When put into the ant farm they went to work building their new home.
William D. –
I live in the cold snow and when I received them at first I thought they were dead but Nope!!! Gave them time to warm up and Bam all alive and working hard!!
JIO –
All ants arrived alive and strong. Amazing. Highly recommend. Purchased ants before from another seller and half were deceased. Not these guys.
LaterDaddyO –
All arrived alive and kicking. You should read the instructions that come with it though. I neglected to do so and missed the part where it tells you to put them in the fridge for a bit to make them slighlty less fiesty. My son was so excited when he got these I decided to put them right in the ant farm….. I got most of them in.. the rest i chased around the room for about 15 minutes or carefully pulled their tiny jaws apart to get them off of my arm. No ants were harmed and all eventually made it into the farm. Again great product, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
Rachael Ward –
Ants were dead but I contacted help to get a full refund. No questions asked. 5 stars for good customer service.
Heather –
Ants arrived alive and well. Went to work right away. Even though I forgot them in the fridge for an hour instead of 10 min. Didn’t lose even one!
Jenny –
a few were dead
Gloria C. –
I did report the 25 ants were dead when arrived and the matter was handle promptly to my satisfaction. I explained to her that now the weather is too hot to ship live ants and will order more ants in the fall when it’s not so hot.
sciencekitmgmt –
For the price they are charging I should of got twenty five of the healthiest ants possible. Half were dead when arrived and four more died next day.
Eric McKay –
I’ve had ant farms for a while, and have renewed my joy in them. These ants did arrive vibrant and active, however even though I promptly opened the package when it arrived, 5 of the ants were very dismembered and dead. This was unusual in my experience, and I’m not sure reflects on the quality of the product. I have had ants arrive in slightly larger tubes before with no dead, and I don’t know it crowding has any factor. All in all, so far, it was a good product, but wish a few more ants had arrived alive. They do really well in the gel medium also.
Samantha –
All our ants arrived safe and alive. We counted 28/29 in our order. We followed the directions and watched them in their new habitat. They adjusted very well.
Jodi Rice –
Some of the ants were dead by the time they arrived. I was dissapointed by that but I contacted the company and they were helpful and offered to correct it. I didn’t take them up on it but they were more than helpful.
Reggie –
kids can’t wait to see what they did every morning. wife was against it at first (thought it was gross) but now she seems to be the first one to look each morning on what new tunnel they built
JenniferECU –
YOU have to pay attention to when you order ants. I purchased mine in DEC and live in IOWA. They all died. I missed the part that said not to order in areas thast temps fall below 40 degrees. They were very nice to work with offered to replace at a warmer date. Will buy from them again… Kinda funny…
Spencer –
They were dead when I opened them. I bought them for Christmas and it didn’t say when I ordered them that they needed to be opened immediately. I opened them several days later and they were already dead.
Nick –
Great product. They seem to have taken to the ant farm extremely well. I was wary that I would have wasted some money purchasing a bunch of dead ants, but in the end I had nothing to worry about.
Johnathan Smith –
Needed the ants for my sons new Antworks ant farm. Ants arrived quickly and ahead of schedule. We did have a few dead critters but I guess that is to be expected when shipping from Washington state to Ohio. Ants got busy and are building their colony.
